Transformative Planning
An innovative approach to regeneration
Welcome to EOA
EOA offers both direct project delivery and consultancy. Having been
a highly successful local regeneration agency EOA now operates across
the UK and in Europe. Regeneration

EOA is above all a regeneration organisation.
The organisation evolved from a highly successful public-sector regeneration programme - East Oxford Action SRB (Single Regeneration Budget) - which regenerated the Cowley Road area of Oxford. The area had previously been in the worst 10% areas in the UK, partly through EOA's work the area no features in the indices of deprivation. The approach developed by EOA to deliver this regeneration is called Transformative Planning. For information on the EOA SRB programme, download:

Eight Princicples of Transformative Planning
Transformative planning is based on
eight principles • Psychology is at the heart of regeneration
• Change a bear community into a bull community
• The answer lies in the community
• Be positive
• Be rigorous
• Disadvantaged people are not a problem but part of the solution
• Support entrepreneurship — economic and social
• Use social capital
Social capital
A key concept for EOA's approach is
that of social capital. The development of positive social capital is a
key tool in transformative planning. EOA believes that it is crucial to
develop all types of social capital - bonding, bridging and linking -
within disadvantaged communities to enable them to achieve their
potential. EOA offers training and consultancy on how to develop social capital and to use it in regeneration.
